Columbus Circle, Washington, DC

The statue of Christopher Columbus in front of Union Station faces the Capitol. It's only three blocks along Delaware Avenue from the Capitol to Union Station — rather convenient for the few Congress(wo)men who actually take the train. Of course, this was by design in the heyday of the passenger train. Former Congressman Bob Franks (R-NJ, 7th District) used to take the Metroliner to Metropark Station every weekend.
