Here's a grayscale strip for a rough brightness-and-contrast calibration. Ideally, you should see seventeen equal-width blocks of gray (a few are just a tad off-gray due to GIF quantization). If there is a long strip of white at left, your monitor is clipping the highlights. If there is a long strip of black at right, your monitor is crushing the shadows. Due to the heavily photographic nature of this travelogue, please adjust your monitor if necessary for optimal viewing.
